Desiree Laidler is Costume Designer based in London. Having graduated from Central Saint Martin’s BA Womenswear course in 2018, she is currently exploring the cross between fashion and costume for both film and performative arts - while evaluating its future potential to intersect further on a grander scale.
Predominantly she designs for music videos for various notable UK and international artists, and has costume designed several short films. Her early career consisted of training in luxury fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton and Burberry which alongside her studies, provided the fundamentals of her skill and extensive knowledge within contemporary and historic fashion and costume. She was influenced heavily by her surroundings from a young age - assisting her mother and grandmother in the running of their costume shop based out of Brighton.
Stylistically she draws from wide and unusual thematic visual references - always taking from the old in order to create something fresh and stimulating.
